Planning Treatment for stage 4 throat Cancer.

We were in a hurry now to get the ball rolling so turned up at the ENT Specialist Clinic at the P.A. Hospital and waited our turn.

The process I thought was quite unique as I stayed in one examination room and one at a time the Doctors  came in and made there diagnosis on how to treat their Specialty.
There were approximately 10 to 12 Doctors (didn't count)who saw me ranging from Oncologist Technical Oncologist Anesthetist, Surgeon ,Speech Therapists ,Dieticians Social workers ,Dentist, Pathologist ,Doctor/Scientist who would Oversea My Chemo, and Professor Dr. Sandro Porceddu

We were Stunned by the Professionalism of the "ENT Cancer Clinic"

Never ,had I seen anything like this a grouping of professionals all giving there input to arrange a plan for the treatment of cancer for me.

All the for mentioned Doctors then had a board meeting to discuss the combined best way forward.

A combined effort to SAVE ME (I was amazed and touched.)

MY Treatment for Pharyngeal Cancer. 3.4mm in Diameter located in the Tonsil.

1. My cancer was "Viral" not "Bacterial" Throat cancer treatment without surgery was recommended.

2/Would require 8 treatments of Chemotherapy

3/ 35 Treatments of Radiation Therapy.

4. My Dentist DR. V reported that my Teeth were in good order so no pre-dental treatment was required. (I found out later why this was important)

5.I would require the services of a speech therapist.

6 I would require a Dietician.

7. All are overseen by Professor DR. Porceddu

NOW I felt I had A chance to survive the Throat Cancer.

THEN THE PANIC SET IN-IT WASN'T GOING TO START FOR A NUMBER OF WEEKS !

The rollercoaster of despair set back in ,"Why so long before Commencement?"

Answer.  The shear number of people getting radiation therapy was so enormous that i had to wait to be able to schedule the 42 treatments in !

I now started to know that this Journey will be not only be a HUGE Physical ride but a HUGE Emotional ride as well.
